Random Thoughts - My First Post

The desire to express myself publicly has clearly overridden my desire to not have a blog.

I fear that my color scheme will deter men from reading my blog, lest someone catch them with too much purple on their computer screens.

Alex turns six on Thursday. God was smiling on me the day Alex announced that he wanted to take two friends to Chuck E. Cheese rather than invite ten crazed children over to our tiny house for a birthday party.

On Friday I am going to a spa with Gretchen to celebrate her birthday. This morning at breakfast I was reading the description of "Emilee's Intrigue" to Alex and Sophie: "This spa experience begins with a combination of massage and hot rock therapy. ["How hot, Mommy? Why rocks?"] Next, we cover your body with fresh eucalyptus leaves known for their ability to boost the immune system. ["Leaves?"] Then, wrapped in steaming towels the natural oils of eucalyptus penetrate deep into your body. [insert quizzical look here] Secure in this warm and nurturing environment, your face and scalp are gently massaged. [furrowed brow] Finally, after removing the towels and leaves, the massage continues. [blank look]" By the end, I was laughing pretty hard at myself and at the brochure. Clearly I have lost sight of how ridiculous some of these spa treatments seem to the uninitiated.
