From C.S. Lewis

We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be.

Someone offered some advice to me the other day which included something about God "wanting us to prosper and be comfortable." And I was thinking about how I've been the most prayerful and dependent on Him in the most unprosperous and uncomfortable times...and what about Job and all those poor guys. Ultimate conclusion: that was bad advice. Why should I care to grow money over real substance, like Grace and Holiness?

Alas, that advice does sound mighty tempting sometimes.
